Voices Prompt #15 - Mistaken Identity - Closed
Adam Pierson?" a woman asked stepping out from around the corner.

"Yes?" a tall young man answered. He came to a stop as he regarded the woman. He'd been walking home from his job. "Do I know you?"

"No, you knew a friend of mine," she said.

"Oh, which friend?" Adam asked, smiling slightly.

"Jacques Lachance"

Adam gave the woman a confused look. "Who?"

"Jacques Lachance, my lover"

"I'm sorry, I have no idea who that is."

"He was my lover. He went to Paris to look on some property there. He said he went out for drinks with you."

"With me? I've never been to Paris"

"I'm not surprised that you would say that. Since it was the last night anyone saw him alive."

"What?"

"You killed him, You killed Jacques."

"I did no such thing. I've never been in Paris."

"Protest all you want, I know the truth and I intend to make you pay" The woman said as she pulled a gun out of her handbag, aiming it at him.

"It wasn't me!" Adam's eyes widened with fear as he took a few steps away.

"You can't convince me otherwise, I know what you did" She said and fired several times.

Adam gasped in shock as the bullets hit, crumpling to the ground. The woman moved to stand over him.

"Good-bye Mr. Pierson" she said, smiling down at him as she waited for Adam's last jagged breath. When she was sure of the death, she turned and left.

In the morning Adam Pierson's body was found in the same position.
